NH3 Operator 1 Training – Building a Strong Foundation in Ammonia Refrigeration
ARTS NH3 Operator 1 Training is designed to give students a strong working foundation in industrial ammonia refrigeration. The course combines classroom instruction with real-world equipment and system walkthroughs so students can connect refrigeration theory to what they actually see in the engine room.
During this training, students had the opportunity to work around a two-stage ammonia refrigeration system featuring a GEA twin-screw compressor package. The hands-on portion allowed students to identify major components, follow refrigerant flow, discuss low- and high-stage operation, and better understand how compressors, vessels, piping, valves, and controls work together as a complete refrigeration system.
NH3 Operator 1 focuses on helping operators understand not only what equipment does, but why it operates the way it does. Students build knowledge in ammonia safety, refrigeration fundamentals, system operation, equipment identification, basic troubleshooting, and safe operating practices.
Our goal is simple: take the information out of the textbook and connect it to the equipment operators work with every day.
Whether you are a new ammonia refrigeration operator, maintenance technician, safety professional, or someone looking to strengthen your understanding of R-717 systems, NH3 Operator 1 provides the foundation needed to continue developing in the industrial refrigeration industry.
